And as we approach the start of 2024, I always love to take a moment to reflect on the year that is coming to a close. My last month surely for me was the best of 2023. This last month has been bigger and more special than I ever could have imagined. For those that have been here all year let’s take a look at the top blog posts, best sellers, favorite retailers and personal moments that all made up the best of 2023!
TOP BLOG POSTS OF 2023
#1 | OUTFIT IDEAS FOR DISNEY WORLD – Ironically the top 3 blog posts this year are still favorites from years past. These 3 posts still bring in loads of traffic to my blog every single day. This is a fun one if you are going to Disney. All affordable and comfortable outfit ideas here.
#2 | WHICH STYLE OF GOLDEN GOOSE SNEAKERS IS RIGHT FOR YOU – I wrote this one in 2022. A great read if you are interested in Golden Goose and not sure which style is best for you.
#3 | DIY CLOSET ROOM MAKEOVER – Another one of those evergreen posts that still drives in traffic to HOLB everyday. Not sure how Erik will ever top what he did for me in this room!
TOP 10 SELLERS OF 2023
THE #1 MOST PURCHASED ITEM ON HOLB in 2023: AMERICAN EAGLE SWEATER
And here it is! The best of 2023 goes to the American Eagle sweater. This was the sweater in the reel that first started the viral train in the middle of November. Truly has to be my favorite sweater of the year as well. This color is sold out but the other 2 colors are still in stock and on sale.
#2 | AMERICAN EAGLE SWEATER – This one feels like cashmere for less!
#3 | CHEERS SWEATSHIRT – Never wore something more controversial in my life haha! Ironically it’s a holiday sweatshirt but this one got both a lot of love and hate on Instagram!
#4 & #5 | SEQUIN SWEATSHIRT & SEQUIN PANTS – This holiday outfit was the best of 2023. Hands down the most sold holiday pieces I showed all season!
#6 | SPANX WIDE LEG DENIM (CODE TAMMYXSPANX) – By far the most sold denim of the year by a landslide! If I had to choose my personal favorite denim I’d say these were the best of 2023 for me as well.
#7 | LOFT DENIM & HENLEY – Both of these flew to top sellers for 2023 just from last week through today. Great deals on both of these pieces right now as well.
#8 | SPANX FAUX LEATHER PANTS (CODE TAMMYXSPANX) – Another pair of Spanx to make the best of 2023.
#9 | RISEN DENIM (CODE TAMMY10) – It was the year for Risen denim! You all went nuts for every style I showed in 2023. The wide leg ivory were a big hit (sold out now) but the boyfriend jeans ranked right up there as well.
#10 | NIKE SNEAKERS – Finally the Nike sneakers from this past spring.
TOP 3 REELS OF 2023
#1 REEL – And here it is friends. This reel took the top prize for the best of 2023. Currently 3.1 million views on Instragram. It is pretty divided between those who love the outfit and those who hated it, but all that controversy drove it to my highest viewed reel to date. All I can say is I’m glad it’s an outfit I could be proud of. Not like I bared it all or anything haha!
#2 REEL – The winning holiday outfit took the 2nd spot with 1.1 million views. This is also my top converting reel of all time!
#3 REEL – And this reel also currently has 1.1 million views and takes the 3rd place for best reel of 2023.
TOP PERSONAL MOMENTS OF THE YEAR
Well think we can say it was another great year for House of Leo Blog. I got to go to the ShopRite LPGA again this year with one of my favorite brands. And this year I got to take my best friend along with me.
Summer had her 2nd surgery back in February and is doing nothing short of amazing! Her diagnosis has only made her a stronger person and I couldn’t be more proud of her. See next photo to really drive this one home.
Summer and her dance team were NATIONAL champions! What a year it was for dance!
Our Jesse Styles turned 1! Made it one full year as a Golden Retriever family. Gosh how we just love this giant goofball.
We spent spring break and Easter in Aruba with our best friends who have become our extended family over the years.
And we left the kids home for this one and vacationed together in Mexico this past September. Honestly that trip was one for the books!
But the best of 2023 had to be finally hitting 100K followers on Instagram. The girls got me balloons that said 135K and ironically we were all together 2 weeks later and flipped the balloons around when I hit 153K that night. Now I’m sitting at 171K and it’s honestly just mindblowing. The last 5 weeks of 2023 have been bigger than I ever could have imagined.
I honestly am just so grateful. I’ve been running HOLB a long time and since day 1 have aimed to always make my brand better, more relateable and a name you can trust. I never waivered from that. Proud that I never relied on just one platform, one retailer or one type of content. Over the years I have been able to expand platforms, create my own content and content for other brands, and bring in a solid mix of brands, retailers and styles that have all made HOLB what you see today.
And I’m still doing it all on my own. Sure Erik and Sandy have huge background roles but it’s still me putting the content out everyday. I do those sale boards every morning. I edit and create my videos. It’s me putting up the FB posts for the day (hence the grammatical errors when I to speak to text in the captions LOL). And it’s me writing these blog posts when I get the chance to put them up. Speaking of blog posts, my goal for 2024 is get back to writing them more consistently. This was the first year out of almost 7 years that I wasn’t as consistent with blog posts, but with my blog views being at an all time high around here I think it’s time to get back on a more consistent schedule with writing content again.
That’s the thing about what I do for a living, content is forever changing. Things move quickly. But we shift, get a hold on things and move forward. I’m moving into 2024 the best I’ve ever felt. If I had to sum up 2023 in one word it would be proud. Proud of all I’ve done, proud of where HOLB is today but mostly I’m just proud of myself. I had a goal that took me YEARS to achieve but I did it. And friends, I’m proud of what I share with you all every single day. I feel good about each item I style for you, each brand I share with you and any campaign I take on.
As always, thank you friends. HOLB doesn’t work without any of you. For those who have been here for many years and for those I just connected with this year – you all mean more to me and my family than you’ll ever know. It’s crazy the connections I’ve been able to make over the years. Some of you I’ve never met but you have become dear friends. From the east coast to the west coast there have been so many of you that touched my life through your messages. You’ve told me I’ve helped you feel more confident in your outfits, or helped you find your style again BUT it’s YOU that changed my life. So thank you a million times over. Your support means the world to me. Farewell 2023. You were an amazing year. Cheers to more great fashion and beautiful moments in 2024 friends.
