WEAR NOW WEAR LATER | WINTER TO SPRING CAPSULE

It’s that time of year where I feel that shift in fashion. Some are scooping up winter clearance finds and others are only buying for spring. Only problem is that it’s still freezing for the majority of us. Perfect time of year to create a wear now, wear later winter to spring capsule. I’m taking 7 key pieces and showing you 9 ways to style them starting now and long into spring (even summer with some items). Capsules are so fun for me to create. The key is try to stick with neutrals with a minmal pop of color and/or prints. And try to separate casual capsules from work capsules. Just makes it less stressful to mix and match. For today’s post we are focusing on everyday casual mom outfits for this wear now, wear later winter to spring capsule.

The wear now wear later key players for the capsule:

SWEATSHIRT (code tammy10) – I recommend one in a bright color and one that is not too oversized so you can front tuck or wear out. The one I’m styling can be worn now, through spring and throughout the summer.

CABLEKNIT SWEATER(code tammy10) – Steer clear of wool and go with a cableknit cotton blend as you’ll wear this even into summer as your summer nights sweater with cutoff shorts.

VEST(code tammy10) – The perfect layer. This one in particular is gonna be a workhorse in my closet. Pairs well over sweaters but can be worn as an athleisure piece with tanks and tees. If you are gonna add a vest at this point in the season I’d avoid puffers as they look too wintery come March. This cotton blend is a perfect transition fabric.

BUTTON DOWN SHIRT(code tammy10) – If there is one piece I will wear into the ground it’s a button down shirt. The linen on this will obviously be perfect through summer, but the flowy length makes it darling to style under the sweater, sweatshirt, vest and denim shirt for now. I also love the pinstripes to add some prints into this wear now, wear later winter to spring capsule.

DENIM SHIRT(code tammy10) – Rather than do a denim jacket for this capsule (which we probably already have and can work in) I thought the longer chambray denim shirt would be a nice change up. This one is also a tad oversized making it roomy enough to style over the button down and sweatshirt. It’s also the softest thing ever! It doesn’t have pockets so it’s not a true shacket in my book, but it’s a good weight for just wearing as a shirt but can double as warm spring layer.

FLARE JEANS(code tammy10) – I put 2 pairs of denim in this capsule. All the outfits can be worn with both pairs. I love how the flares add a touch of trending fashion to this simple capsule. These are by Risen (one of our fav denim brands) and they have unreal stretch. I did cut mine but I kept the flare. Honestly, they looked great with sandals, heels, sneakers and loafers.

BOYFRIEND JEANS(code tammy10) – These aren’t new BUT to me they are the ultimate carefree spring/summer denim. Something about a boyfriend jean that just seems so cool and effortless.

If I had to choose one piece from this wear now, wear later winter to spring capsule that is my favorite it’s 100% the linen top. I could’ve worn this as the base with every single outfit here. The linen is beautiful and it’s just so flowy!

See what I mean about this sweater? I can totally see wearing with jeans and sandals or denim shorts and sandals a few months down the road. The navy is so classic on this too!
