This has been the reoccuring question I’ve been getting lately in my comments and dms. “What is the best denim for petites?” I’m answering that question today by rounding up all my favorite styles at all price points and from multiple brands. So no matter your budget you are bound to find a style here that should work for you!

Before we dive into the best denim for petites I just want to add that I do cut the hem on 99% of the denim I buy. For years I would pass on so many styles of denim as they would be too long on my 5’2 frame and I didn’t want to have to pay to have them hemmed. Once I starting to cut my jeans an entire world opened up for me. Now I can buy any style from any brand and cut them to exactly how I want them. So while the styles I’m sharing today all come in short or petite length just know that you are able to try all denim if you own a pair of scissors. #gamechanger
JEANS (2 SHORT) | BLAZER (SMALL) | HEELS
I have about 4 pairs of affordable denim under $50 to share. When it comes to budget friendly denim I have been buying from maurices for years. All their denim is offered in short, regular and tall options. Plus they have a ton of styles and washes to choose from. This wide leg is my new favorite from them. I did get these in short length but actually cut them to be even shorter. I just love when denim hits right above my ankle.
DENIM (2 REGULAR) | SWEATER (SMALL) | SHOES (TTS)
I had gotten this style of straight leg denim awhile back in a different wash. These 100% remind me of Levi’s as they are a true denim with no stretch. Only difference is this pair is crazy affordable. This is actually a tapered ankle style (no raw hem) but the short length was sold out so I got the regular and cut them. I’ll attach another photo of them in the short length so you can see how they actually look if you don’t cut them.

JEANS (2 SHORT) | SWEATSHIRT (MEDIUM)
Ok for my girls who love boot cut this one is a great pair of denim. They have really good strtech and a nice light wash. To keep them a true boot cut you can get your regular lenght. Personally I still cut them in the short length as I don’t love a boot cut style on me. BUT at this length I love them!

And one more style from maurices for the best denim for petites. I don’t do distressed denim as much as I used to but if you still love distressing this is a nice pair. High rise, stretch denim and already has the raw hem. Also offered in short, regular and tall lengths.

I’d recommend Loft as another great spot when looking for the best denim for petites as a ton of their styles are also offered in lengths. This pair was a top seller in December and the stock is low now. However, I did link up another wash in this same exact style that I ordered. Tip: anytime you see the phrase “kick flare” that usually is a good style for petites.

Speaking of kick flare – this is one of my favorite styles of petite denim from Spanx. The kick flare hits at just the perfect spot. This is a pull on style with awesome Spanx molding and stretch. I wear this pair a ton! My code TAMMYXSPANX will get you a savings too.

One of my top selling pairs of denim for 2023. Normally a style like this pair (where you can’t cut them) would be a big no for petites, but being Spanx offers them in petite they are a homerun! And the length is perfect as I can wear them with both heels and sneakers without them dragging. The stretch and style on this pair – just one of my favorite styles of denim of all time. Ok so these aren’t offered in lengths but being they are a boyfriend jean they look AWESOME rolled. And us short girls know how to roll! I style this particular pair with literally every shoe – clogs, sneakers, heels and sandals. The stretch is so good on these. Code TAMMY10 will work on both the jeans and sweater here.
Hopefully this helped my fellow shorties find the best denim for petites. And if there isn’t a style you love then hopefully it at least gives you some new brands or styles to check out and put on your denim radar.
