If you are a regular story viewer on my Instagram then you all know that I got cheek fillers a few weeks ago. Today I’m covering what to expect from cheek fillers by recapping my experience, why I got them and the healing process.
As you all know I had written a very detailed and honest blog post back in the summer about cosmetic medicine. Again, cosmetic medicine won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but for those that have an interest I hope you find that post to be helpful. I introduced you all to Étoile Cosmetic Medicine Studio and explained how much they put me at ease when I had lip fillers done.
Just to recap, the above photo shows the before and after of when Dr. Gangi from Étoile Cosmetic Medicine Studio did my lips during the summer. More in this blog post. During my 1st consultation Dr. Gangi looked over my skin and pointed out how I could benefit from having cheek fillers done. She explained that it would add volume and radiance yet still keep me looking very natural. To be honest, I never actually gave cheek filler any thought. I truly didn’t think I needed it until I watched back this Instagram story I did. See below.
Yup. See how my cheek is slightly sunken in? I immediately text Dr. Gangi and said I see it now! Was it awful? Gosh no. But what I’ve learned from going to Étoile Cosmetic Medicine Studio and shared with all of you in my initial post is that you can simply enhance your beauty non-surgically and have a natural look. No over Botoxed plastic faces here. Étoile is actually the complete opposite of that. They are conservative and strive to keep you looking as natural as possible. You know when you see someone and say to youself gosh that person just looks so rested? Yup. That’s the goal when you go to Etoile. Rested, radiant while still looking natural. It’s no wonder why they were just voted #1 Medspa in Morris Essex County for the 7th year in a row!
I prepped for my appointment the same way I did for my lips. I started taking Arnica Montana tablets a few days prior to reduce any swelling that may occur.
Dr. Gangi used Radiesse volume cheek filler in both my cheeks. The process is very quick. While my lips didn’t hurt I found my cheeks were definitely less sensitive when comparing to my lips. You do see the volume in your cheeks immediately. Then after a few minutes it does go down and you are left slightly swollen. I applied ice packs to help with any swelling for about a 1/2 hour after the injectables. The above photos show what to expect from cheek fillers immediately after.
Above shows you the progression of what to expect from cheek fillers from immediately after until 4 days after. Each day the swelling went down dramatically. Cheek fillers softly lift your face and add beautiful, natural volume to your face. Did you know that rejuvenating the mid face actually has more impact on the entire face than any other treatment? It really does make such a difference.
All my girlfriends saw me that following weekend of having it done and all said they couldn’t even tell. I just looked plump, lifted and rested. Goal achieved once again!
Like with my lips, cheek fillers will last about a year. With my past 2 filler treatments I’ve come to learn the benefits of facial rejuvenation. It’s safe, effective and requires little to no down time. You are not changing your features rather you are enhancing. There was no discomfort or soreness afterwards. Just some slight puffiness and it was hard to fully smile for about 24 hours. I had makeup on the next day and was back to riding my Peloton after 48 hours!
During my visit I also had a follow up to my skin using VISIA if you remember from my first post. I just wanted to focus on cheek fillers for this post but expect to see a very detailed post next month about how my skin changed after 9 weeks and learn about some of the products I am incorporating into my skincare regimen from Étoile Cosmetic Medicine Studio. Those results deserve a blog post all of it’s own! Trust me!
Hopefully this post gave you some insight on what to expect from cheek fillers. I also have a highlights saved on my IG called “Cosmetic Medicine” that shows you more of the process. My goal is always to be an honest resource for you when it comes to cosmetic medicine! If you are interested in having injectables done such as Botox or fillers you can reach out to Etoile Cosmetics here and mention House of Leo Blog at booking for 15% off injectables for 1st time clients.
“Confidence breeds beauty” my friends. Love yourself when you look in the mirror and flaunt that confidence all day long.

What an amazing transformation! Did she inject one or two fillers in your cheeks?
Thank you! She did 1 in each cheek.
Were you nervous that your results wouldn’t look natural right after this was done?
