HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE 2020 NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE

I don’t usually put out a blog post on a Friday but it’s just about here girlfriends. One of the biggest sales of the year is about to kick off and today I’m sharing how to prepare for the 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

If you’ve been part of the HOLB squad since the beginning then you know I always bring great coverage of the sale. I’ve shopped the sale as a consumer long before I was covering as an influencer. Over the years I have learned the ins and outs of how to prepare for the 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and today I’m getting you all ready! I mean even Summer is a seasoned NSALE shopper. WHAT IS THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSAY SALE?

Better known as the NSALE — it’s an annual sale that Nordstrom does (usually in July but because of Covid it’s in August this year) where they mark down NEW FALL ARRIVALS up to 40% off! This is not a clearance sale. This is not an end of season sale. It’s a sale on what is being released for fall which is what makes it so special. It lasts this year from 7/24 to 8/30 after which items will go back to full price.

WHAT TO BUY DURING THE 2020 NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE?

As I say every year — it might be summer but this is the sale to start preparing your fall and winter wardrobes. Major brands along with Nordstrom brands will all be marked down significantly so it’s a great time to take advantage and buy for the upcoming seasons.

My go to items to buy are always boots, moto jackets, cardigans and premium denim. Every BLANKNYC moto jacket I have has been bought during the sale. AND the majority of my boots for the season I get during the sale. Rare and I mean rare do items restock and if they do they sell out again quickly.

MY TOP TIPS FOR THE 2020 NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE

ORDER QUICKLY – Hydrate and carb up the night before because it’s a marathon of shopping. Things go fast. AND I MEAN FAST. This is not an add to cart and think about it kinda sale. It’s an add to cart and click purchase kinda sale. Order multiple sizes and return later. Nordy’s offers free shipping and returns.

SHOP ONLINE – Honestly. Do not waste your time going into Nordy to shop. I say this for several reasons. Firstly, the stores will be packed. Secondly, they do not stock their full sale catalog in store so you’ll have less options and less sizes. AND word on the street is this year the in store inventory will be even lower due to Covid. Lastly, odds are your dressing rooms will be closed at your local Nordy so you won’t be able to try things on in store. With Nordy offering free shipping and returns there really is no reason not to just shop the sale online.

GET A NORDSTROM CARD – I’ll get into key dates in a moment but you’ll be able to shop the sale prior to it opening to the public if you are a cardholder. Once it opens to the public there isn’t much left so having the card is imperative to really getting a good chance of scoring what you want. You can apply for the Nordstrom card here. Also, new and existing cardholders can earn extra Nordstrom notes (credits to Nordstrom).

You can earn up until 7/26 and notes will be awarded on 8/18.

KEY DATES TO REMEMBER

Beginning today 7/24 everyone will be able to preview the sale. Your cardholder status shown above will determine when you are able to purchase items from the sale. You can check your status here.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ME DURING THE SALE!

Because my life only moves in the fast lane and never the slow lane the sale naturally opens to all cardholders on 8/13, also Summer’s birthday. Not ideal as it’s her day and then her birthday party is that weekend. BUT do not fret Summer and friends. I got it all worked out.

I will have sale roundups posted in my stories and on LTK every single morning. Be sure you are closely following me on Instagram and LTK. I will have try ons posted in stories and blog posts on the day the sale goes live for cardholders. You can also access a dedicated Nordstrom tab on the menu bar of my blog for easy shopping.
