When I was a teenager my mother NEVER let me wear ripped jeans. NEVER! EVER! She had fashion rules that she made me abide by. Minimal black (because she didn’t like the color black worn on young girls) and no distressed denim. It’s funny because as I dress Summer I kind of stick to these same rules. I don’t put her in much black and all. I like neutrals and brights when I dress her. Guess that rule got passed down the line! However, her rule of no ripped jeans got tossed out the window once I moved out. Probably one of my biggest go to trends, can’t live without, synonymous with my look is a distressed pair of jeans. I love that you can dress them down or dress them up depending on the occasion. Throw them on with flip flops for errands or match them w/a flowy shirt and high wedges for date night like I did here. I often think my friends and family must place secret bets on whether I’ll have ripped jeans on the next time they see me. What can I say? I just feel good in them! In a future post I will feature my favorite ripped jeans. Stay tuned for that!
Shop my look: Saks shirt / Express jeans /
Jeffrey Campbell wedges / Necklace
For date night I couldn’t wait to wear these new wedges by Jeffrey Campbell. They have a nice height to them and can be worn for work or going out. The neutral color and cut out details are my favorite.
The big trend this season is off the shoulder tops. Loved the dark navy blue color of this one and the pretty eyelet detail. Original price was $90 and I got it for $50 at Saks Off 5th. LOVE this store for getting great pieces deeply discounted. They don’t offer free return shipping but if you have a store close by you can return in store within 30 days I believe.
I finished off the look with this new gold layered necklace. I tend to favor gold jewelry and layered or chunky pieces. This one has a pretty sparkle to it and really pops in person.
What are your favorite date night pieces to wear?

Adorable outfit!! Love those shoes!! You certainly have an eye for fabulous pieces! I need to go shopping with you!
Anytime Heather! Although I have to admit that I online shop way better than in store. Wine and online shopping makes for a fun night!
Were we raised by the same woman my mother had the exact same fashion rules…minimal black if Any on a little girl and she still hates the ripped jeans. Never a rip. Like you I adopted the same fashion policy for Victoria so she wears tons of brights and frilly pretty. I love this look particularly what you’ve done with the necklace I never know exactly what to do with the neckline on those off the shoulder tops. Ineagerly look forward to your daily blog and considering I have a date night this Saturday you’ve given me a few ideas. Xo
Little girls should look like little girls! Totally on the same page. Have fun on your date night! Long necklaces are always my fav with OTS tops! Have fun!
What date night? You can wear that look very well. I have to say I would never buy a pair of ripped up jeans but I can now wear my jeans that are ripped because of wear and tear due to abuse.
As for the top I have noticed that trend on TV and even pointed out to my husband that it looks uncomfortable. I would be worrying that the dang thing would fall off my shoulders. That being said I also have skinny arms and shoulders and that would be a not for me.
My daughter wore a dress to school every day up until the 3rd grade when she rebelled but her hair was always curly and her clothes matched. Then in jr high she wore clothes for picture day and as soon as they were taken she changed. She wore an abercrombie and fitch t-shirt for her senior picture.
Love love the jewelry and I love gold and I do wear some kind of jewelry daily.
My husband says that I need to dress for my body which is so unfortunately true. i just ordered 10 items of clothing from macys’ and everything has to be returned.
This is a great site and you have a very excellent taste in clothing. deborah
Thank you Deborah. Loved reading your comment! The top is actually comfortable. They make them so they don’t fall off but you have to wear what makes you comfy and feel good! Bummer about having to return your purchases. I hate when that happens. Hopefully your next shipment works out better! So glad you like the blog. Lots to come!
Hello all now I’m sure that the people reading house of Leo may know Tammy pretty well…. But I wanted people who don’t really know her and just started reading her blog to know this I’ve been friends with Tammy since 7th grade which in hindsight is a long time… Of course we were back in fourth in each other’s lives In and out as we grew older… But I just wanted to say one thing… Everything I’ve read so far is truly the girl I have always known so that I’m truly happy she is finally out there doing something she always loved –fashion! Afterall she took me shopping in 7th grade! So to all her readers know one thing .. This is a passion she has always had! When I married my husband and I would always guess what she would be wearing at a get together.. If anyone can pull this off its you Tam ! Xo so much love on your journey!!! Much love Rhonda
