I’m not telling you to breakup with your hairdresser. We all know that kinda breakup is as hard as the breakup with your high school sweetheart. BUT by the end of this post you may just want to “take a break” and start up your own relationship with Lambs & Wolves –– the top hair salon in Monmouth County. Today I’m bringing you on a tour of where I’ve been getting my hair done for 9 years and telling you all their story. It’s not just a hair salon. It’s a vibe.
I personally think one of the most important relationships we can have in life aside from family and friendships (obviously) is the one with our hair salon. Our hair is one of the first things people see when they look at us. It’s our calling card. Just as we should invest in skincare and facial treatments to keep us looking our best the same goes for our hair. You get what you pay for right? But it goes beyond that.
You want an experience. Not just the first time you go to your hair salon BUT every single time you walk back in the door. That’s exactly what you get when you go to Lambs & Wolves. The salon is a vibe. It’s a journey into 1, 2, 3 hours (depending what you are getting done) of uber coolness. You walk in feeling one way. You walk out way cooler than a few hours prior.
THE STORY & LOCATION
Lambs & Wolves was founded by Glen Goldbaum in 2008. He is the essence of his salon. The pack leader as they call him. His artists are his pack and they are not tamed. They are wild with creativity, passion and experience. Glen has decades of hair experience. He worked in NYC before opening his own salon in Red Bank, NJ. Over the 9 years that I’ve been a client he has expanded his salon numerous times. His latest expansion now includes the entire 2nd floor of 200 Monmouth Street (above Sickles Market).
It’s massive. It’s cool. And it’s more than just a hair salon. Glen has a huge involvement in the art community and it’s evident in his salon. The salon is also an art gallery with crazy cool pieces of art displayed all over.
There are over 20 artists at Lambs & Wolves and each one is oozing with talent, style and personality. I have been seeing Alicia since the beginning. While she doesn’t do my hair extensions (you can read more about that here) she has been doing my color for almost a decade. That’s commitment my friends. She has never steered me wrong not once. Over the years I have easily referred at least a dozen friends and family to her and not one has left Lambs & Wolves since. With the amount of competition out there I think that really says something. You get taken in as one of their own and from there the bond just grows.
PRODUCTS
Lambs & Wolves use only the best products. For color they use Goldwell line which is undisputedly top of the line. And for maintenance they have a wall filled with the best brands in beauty. Oribe, Kevin Murphy, and more. In addition to hair, they also have The Den which is a full service beauty and makeup salon using only clean beauty products.
And of course they have one of the best bridal teams in NJ for bridal hair, makeup or special events. They can accommodate styling at the salon or on location. While I have never utilized them for bridal hair they did Summer’s hair for her Communion and did a beautiful job. And yes — even Summer is part of the pack and gets her haircut here. As does Erik. Which brings me to my next point — Lambs & Wolves is for everyone. You, your spouses, your kids — in my family we are all part of the pack.
Finally, let’s just talk parties because cool people throw cool parties. And Lambs & Wolves is all about cool people. After taking a hiatus from their well known events centered around community, art and beauty they are finally hosting a great free event on 5/23 at 200 Monmouth Street. Their event “Unchained” begins at 6pm and will feature a fashion show, music and creative collaboration with area fashion designers to promote mental health.
BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT
So. Did you catch the vibe yet? Ready to experience the pack for yourself? While Alicia is my ride or die girl, I would absolutely recommend anyone at Lambs & Wolves when booking your appointment. You’ll have a different experience depending who you go to but that’s the beauty in it. Each artist brings their own style to the appointment. Lambs & Wolves – “This is where the magic happens.”
