Finally recapping Summer’s 11th groovy hippie birthday party! This was such a fun theme. I mean all her past parties have been so fun to do but think we really enjoyed this one this year! Definitley felt more tween like and less little girl like. As always, my mom, Erik and I executed the party planning and today we will share how this groovy hippie birthday party came to life!
SHOP THE POST:
It was no surprise that Summer went with this theme as she keeps saying she wants a VW bus or VW Beetle for her first car haha! Naturally we had to make the VW bus as a cute photo prop. All the credit goes to my mom for making this from scratch.
Being this was the main photo area for our groovy hippie birthday party I thought a balloon arch would be cute to add in. They are expensive to have done professionally so I opted to get a DIY kit to try out. Erik, Summer and I got this balloon arch blown up, assembled and put up in less than an hour. Super easy to do this one.
Every year I do a candy table as part of the favors. I usually do theme candy but this year Summer wanted to pick her favorite candies so we just went with that. I kept the tablecloth very boho and thought it went perfectly with her colors: orange, yellow and pink.
The backdrop actually came with the balloon arch kit and it worked out perfectly for the candy table backdrop. We incorporated the groovy part of the theme with a disco ball, disco ball string lights, LOVE wooden sign and a small roller skate that is actually a pinata. The decor really addded to the table.
And stumbled upon this groovy table runner on Amazon and had to add it onto the candy table. Those small touches make all the difference!
Sandy also made the rice krispie treats. She topped them off with some sunflower candies and sprinkles to match her theme!
Aside from the candy table we also did these cute boho makeup bags as part of the favors for our groovy hippie birthday party. Inside we filled them with these heart sunglasses and one of these disco ball compact mirrors!
As for the rest of the decor, I really kept it simple. I got some hippie flower banners that I strung along the fence. Then picked up some fresh daisies and added those to mason jars.
I didn’t get any photos but for entertainment we hired a DJ which the girls LOVED! We used Magical Gatherings DJ and he did a great job. He played all their song requests along with lots of groovy, hippie beats.
From Amazon Live to the backyard – here’s my party team. I think we do a heck of a job! Bittersweet though as I have a feeling our big theme parties are coming to an end with Summer going into her last year of elementary school. We have had so many great parties over the years! My team and I always have a blast putting these parties together.
